- Boys apply to the Troop by completing an official application with their parents
- Submit the application to the Scoutmaster or Committee Chair
- A boy becomes a member of the Troop when he has paid the required fees and his application is approved by the Scoutmaster.
- Your son will be presented with a Troop neckerchief and woggle, Troop numeral patch, and a Troop Class B shirt.
Registration Fee/Insurance
This yearly fee includes Scouting America registration/program fee, insurance, and Scout Life subscription (subscription is about $15.00, and optional). This fee is passed by the Troop directly to Monmouth Council. This fee is due when the Troop re-charters. The Troop Treasurer and Committee Chair will coordinate the deadline for paying this annual registration fee to the Troop.
How much will joining Troop 10 cost?
- There are the annual dues to Troop 10 that must be paid every year. The amount is determined at our annual budget meeting.
- Newly recruited Scouts will pay the National and local Council fees in addition to their dues.
- Adults that support the Troop and register as a leader, with an active Troop position, will be charged for their initial fee, but will be refunded if they are active as a leader.
Troop Dues + Additional Costs:
Dues: Our dues are for a calendar year. The annual dues are $237.00. The dues will be pro-rated based on the month you join. $152.00 of the dues are sent to Scouting America to cover National and Council dues and insurance. The balance of $85.00 is used by the Troop to cover items like rank patches, merit badge patches, troop cooking equipment, troop camping equipment and other advancement awards, just to name a few. It does not cover personal gear like backpacks and sleeping bags. We have fundraising throughout the year. Our major fundraiser is selling Scouting America popcorn in the fall.
Additional Cost: Scouts will be charged for some of the Troop’s special events such as camping and day trips. These fees pay for camp facilities, transportation cost, food, and sometimes special event patches and will be announced prior to the event. We recommend each Scout have their own personal camp gear.
Every Scout needs the official Scout handbook, and Scout uniform. Handbooks and uniforms can be purchased at the Scout Shop. The Scout shop is a full service shop that provides all program literature, uniforms, insignia, and camping equipment.
The Scout Shop can be found at 705 Ginesi Dr, Morganville, NJ 07751 or scoutshop.org
